Starting Stonefields - Fabrics and Planning from Loose Threads

I’ve been thinking about starting the Stonefield's quilt by Susan Smith.  The pattern was given to me by Barb Perrin many years ago.  I’ve pulled it out several times, studied it, and put it back on the shelf.  I even organized the pattern into a notebook.  I’ve been watching Gretchen, Chris and Rebecca all working on the Stonefield's quilt.  Gretchen was at the Jane Stickle retreat, and she was working on one of her blocks.

I freshened my stash with some new Tilda fabrics and a few other pieces I thought I could use in ...

Chipping away from Art In Search

I have lots of projects. I have a whole notebook of them that I track. First, an older one- finally quilted this week. I have to add the binding I made yesterday and then I can post the whole quilt.

I have a new project. Maureen sent me a bag of triangle and pieces of Tilda fabric- I had never heard of it, but, oh my, I really like it. I found a Missouri Star Quilt Company pattern called Kindred Pinwheels and I thought it was perfect for these triangles. I adapted and used the whole size of the triangles ...

» Luann's Loose Threads

I'm going to try to work my way through the quilt blocks that I've started and never put together into a top.  This pattern is Antique Baskets by Brandywine Design.  The pattern has more baskets, but I'm stopping at 16 to make a wall hanging.  The handles are embroidered.  I used a product called Transfer Eze.  You can see more photos of the blocks and a photo of the pattern here.    I'm trying to choose a sashing fabric from my stash.  I'm not sure about either of these fabrics.

I've started a new hexagon ...

Embellished Jean Jacket from A Ditchin' Time Quilts

J Crew jean jacket / size 2T

How did I do it?

Tilda Fabric with other scraps

I measured the space on the jacket that a pieced design would fit.  I then designed a square to fit the space  and made it.   Next, I added enough blue fabric all the way around the square to reach the seams where I planned on appliquéing into place.

The paper pattern was exact size but when I cut the shapes I added 0.25 inches on each edge or 0.5 inches total width.   For example: the center squares finished size is 2" x ...
